The way that I seem to spend the least spina/time is this, just my opinion though. +1-Hematite +2-Hematite +3-Hematite +4-Hematite/D Steel(If frustrated) +5-D Steel +6-Mythril +7-Mythril +8-Orichalcum +9-Orichalcum

I do exactly what Famine noted in the above post with the exceptions that... I use Damascus Steel to +6 instead of Mythril and Mythril to +8 instead of Ori.

I used to +8 with mythril, but that was before Ori existed, and I've pretty much vowed never to do it again since Ori released hahaha. I seem to have horrible refine luck and only through persistence do I make it to +9 eventually.

I've accepted the fact that I'll never get anything to +9 because I can only afford mythril and ori is so slow to farm. Of course when I have those few rare oris they always fail me e.e

Yep +8 is hard enough, tried for 9's so many times. It's just so time consuming too.

Mhm and I was told by someone that specific blacksmiths were better for specific things but nobody else wrote or talked about it and he didn't mention his source e.e all I got from other players was that YES Wibos blacksmith DOES suck more balls than the other smiths. And I heard Kleya smith is good at refining claws but meh it's okay ish.

Also* according to jp wiki. The Japanese versions players have better luck at refining with lower ores than we do. Thanks again for the no contest on favouritism Asobimo >.<

Like Jeancarlo said, anything that is upgraded is actually harder to refine to it's best to get to at least +8 or +9 before you go about upgrading your items.
All my alt equips, which were upgraded and only +7 or below, could only be refined (by me) to +8 because everytime I tried to +9, it went all the way back down. (And mind you, they were all upgraded... Probably used 1m+ on them.. @.@)
GaucheXI There has been a discussion somewhere on this forum about which blacksmith works best for people. There were lots of different answers. Some preferred the windark blacksmith as opposed to the dreaded wibo. xD I personally prefer Kleya blacksmith since it has never failed me and sometimes even Rokoko blacksmith.

Another BS mentioned a lot is the one by skyship:)
