When I was farming Sp.Rev Ales at Mt Mithurna (via Bitterwine quest from Obligaus) I had some parties with random Paladins who farm the same. I usually do the 50x Petinos while they were doing 50x Harpies and most of them ask me how I kill Petinos faster, which is a good question because they 1hit Harpies while I 2hit Petinos (or even if I did 1hit Petinos, they should finish Harpies earlier since I have to walk very far to get to the Petinos). What usually happens is I finish Petinos before they finish their Harpies.
I realize that new Paladins may have not heard of the Guardian Spawn Glitch and it is quite hard to explain in-game, hence this guide.
1) What is the spawn glitch?
When you use guardian in multiple mobs, you will notice that the mobs splashed and killed with your guardian will spawn a new mob. (e.g. you see two mobs, you use guardian, both mobs get hit and die, but you still see one remain. the remaining mob is not the mob you saw earlier, it is a new spawn on the same spot. You can confirm 2 kills on your battle log)
2) How does it make me grind faster?
When you abuse the spawn glitch, you will have 3 mobs on your guardian all the time because they keep spawning. This results to making DPS more efficient, because every second of your DPS gets applied rather than lost due to walking or waiting for spawn or both. Also, a Pally's Guardian DPS is higher when you face multiple mobs since it is multiplied to three. When grinding mobs efficiently, having high DPS is a good thing, but if the mob don't spawn, your DPS means absolutely nothing because it doesn't get applied.
3) Ok, so how do I abuse the spawn glitch?
There are 2 requirements for this:
a) You must not be able to 1 hit the mob - if the mob is 1 hit, you can't abuse the spawn glitch. You might want to try to lower your guardian level or wear low DPS gear.
b) You must know where the mob exactly spawns - mobs tend to wander from their original spawn point, so after you kill it with your splash, it will spawn in its spawn point which maybe far from where you killed it. You need it to spawn within your AOE so you eliminate walking and just keep spamming guardian.
Now, after you have that in mind, what you want to achieve is to activate guardian in such a way that it will eventually hit 3 mobs but will not kill all of them at the same time. This can be done by hitting one mob first, then you drag him to splash the others. If you got it right, it will keep spawning. If not, then try again and figure out what you are doing wrong. It might be possible that there is not enough mob movement in the map (especially if you are alone) so killing other mobs might help stimulate the spawn rate. Try again after that.
If they all die at the same time, you might find yourself left with 2 mobs spawned from the glitch, then you kill them both which leaves you with 1 mob spawned and eventually breaks the chain. This is because the target disappears and only the splashed mobs respawn. This is also the reason why it doesn't work with 1hit mobs.
Anyway, once you have it done right, it will spawn endlessly, with some exceptions which I leave for you to discover.
Notes:
I. I'm not sure how the glitch behaves in a party, but I've done this before in a party with Megaroches.
II. There are some mobs in the map that are fewer than the rest and spawn slowly. This is where the spawn glitch is very advantageous, since you eliminate the spawn problem. Not tested in rare mobs, it would be really nice if it works, but I doubt.
III. Let me know if you have different observations from the guide I made. We'll improve it as needed.
IV. I'm not sure if the glitch also applies to other AOE classes. We'll just let them figure it out. XD
