So before I made my Alchemist I always heard it was this god-awful class. But I love it. And this is why. My build is this at Lv301 Int:368 Dex:345 Vit:256 (I know that much is unneeded) My Gear Lespolt Gerust (I know there's probably better) Struggler Up Moldus Taenia Tarna Magical Ring ns
When I started this class all my prodcution types were at lv1 but Tailoring, at lv15. I found that with certain types of prod., certain damages get better. With Alchemy, I saw Poison damage got higher. With Smithing I saw Burn damage got higher. I haven't worked on anything else yet. But I'm sure I'll find something. We have multiple AoE's, even if some of them have a small range. With Poison and Burn dmg, along with Cursed Rain dmg, I can do a total of 500k damage. I know once I get my production up higher, I'll be doing way more. This class gets a lot of bad feedback. I don't know if it's just because of it being difficult at lower levels (I changed at 280) or if it's just the rumor you HAVE to always do production (Varfardo sells our skill items, Catalysts.) But this class is amazing. I'm kind of tanky (except from aoe >.> stupid yarde) and deal great damage. This isn't a guide or anything. So don't use my stuff expecting op-ness because I'm still testing stuff out. This is to show anyone considering Alchemist that the class is amazing and has a lot of potential.

Welcome to the Alchi club, you can start by reading other threads in this section, you will learn many many things that you still don't it seems, be sure sure to read the stickied thread at least. Good luck with this class Just to make things clearer... Alchemist was a bad class before ailment damage calculations were changed, instead of doing 5K poison now you do 170K+ (without poison set), it was never difficult at lower levels, just consuming too much spina, now it's still consuming spina, just less than before, but it also generates tons of spina if you go into production.

Welcome to the alchemist class!
I switched my bish over at lv 200 when this class 1st release and found it to be a lot of fun but it took way to long to have to farm mats to keep up with farming prod and leveling. Also the passive dmg(which was the main draw for me) was very low. So I left it alone for awhile.
When I came back, they had updated all the formulas to deal better dmg and added the shop. (Buying spells is so much nicer then farming mats to make spells.) Now this is my favorite class.
My words of advice are max alchemy Smithing and carpentry. These make the biggest difference in your passive dmg.(the others don't increase your dmg but are good for making spina) Your levels int and dex make up the other half of your passive dmg but you already have that. You can read the sticky thread most of the formulas are pretty close to my real dmg. The only one I'm still working on is bleeding dmg. I have a better formula for it but it still is lower then my real dmg by about 500-1000. (I'll probably update what I got sometime today)
Matk is nice to have but only has a major affect on blizzard, meteor hit(burn is affected but very little), and a fifth of cursed rain. So don't hesitate to use a sword and myrica to boost your hp and def. You can still do a ton of dmg without matk, but you will have a longer cast time without a rod or throw.
And last but not least, I highly recommend you read the WIP guide. Pay attention to the poison set and the autoskill tank set. With these too sets I can one shot bosses with 350k hp or less(poison set) and can tank any other boss or rare mob without ever needing to heal when combined with drain and high max hp(auto tank set can heal u on counter if the Atk doesn't kill you). I can solo all mq bosses today with ease.
I hope you have a lot of fun with this class and don't be afraid to ask questions!

I have trouble soloing those two with my resist set which works like a charm against pretty much everything else... and am not ready to invest on another set yet...

My set isn't complete yet. I'm still need more autoskill abi's and at least two autoskill Al crystals. Even so, I'm at like 80% chance to take 0 dmg, 38% chance I'll get healed, and 7.5% chance I'll get healed for Double! The only drawback is if I get hit for more then my remaining hp Im just dead. So I probably need another 100 vit. That would put me near 40k hp(right now I'm closer to 30k with 250 vit). I may try it today just "for science!" and let you know. ^_^

OK just tried: lv 300 has a room effect that hits for your max hp this set will not protect against room effects so lge with item delay set may be the only way to solo. It may be possible for us but you will die every 5 secs. So you could get one poison hit before you die and have to town, heal, and reenter. Lv 350 I can solo with a little more hp. I was able to kill but if he crt he killed me because I got hit for 31k and I only had 30k. But there is hope, I did kill him within time (only 8 deaths) so its doable with this set. (also poison and running was somewhat effective) Lv 400 hit me for 30k~60k every time, so I died as soon as he got to me. Maybe after I gain another 50 levels it will be doable but right now I can't stand in front of him long enough to really hurt him. Definitely doable with bish and pally. Bish could heal pally and we could deal op dmg for fast kill(I know I do about 2.5m every 10secs once I get all my debuffs cast). Soloing with this set may be far off.
