I tested those three crystas on Third Eyes (Neutral Element).
Let's not talk about Dajarte here, bcs it's obviously Dajarte has higher damage eventho it has a downside on defense capabilities

Btw, in this test, I use three dajarte (armor, add, special). Gewalt, Cherose, and Pretortoise was on my weapon.
Here are their damages.
Pretortoise + wind origin
Cherose + Earth Origin
Gewalt without any Light Magic buff
I thought Gewalt's damage is pretty good but meehhh. Dissappointed. Nothing so special from this Gewalt
So in general, gewalt isn't better than other 4 Element crysta (Ifrit, Leviathan, Cherose, Pretortoise).
Gewalt only have higher damage when fighting dark element. Meanwhile, when fighting fire, water, wind, earth, neutral, and light element, gewalt's damage is lower than other crysta. So there is nothing so special about this gewalt....
I'm glad I didn't spend huge amount of spina to buy this gewalt when it's price is still high.
Cherose has higher damage than pretortoise, but you gotta cast Earth Origin first. This is the downside from using cherose. When you cast Earth Origin, you'll have a lower chance to proc Thunder Bolt which means lower chance to paralyze the mob. So, your survivability become lower.
Meanwhile, when using pretortoise, you can cast Wind Origin to boost its damage. Eventho pretortoise CAN'T give paralyze, you still have a higher chance to proc Thunder Bolt from Enchant Weapon skill, so you'll have a higher chance to paralyze the mob which result in higher survivability.
FYI Cherose's damage without earth origin is obviously lower than Pretortoise damage with wind origin.
Now, you can use this information to choose a better crysta and build a better equipment set and obviously dajarte is the best choice for grinding.
For me I'll prepare this set:
2 pretortoise 1 dajarte or 1 pretortoise 2 dajarte when fighting fire, water, wind, light, neutral mob
Full pretortoise when fighting dark mob
Full cherose when fighting earth mob and easy wind mob
Full dajarte for grinding
