If you want to be good with bosses that have barriers, I.e. FG, then you should go for Monk because they can do geobreaker. It depends on what type you would prefer in the dps role. Assassins are good as well they do high damage with backstab.

Unfortunately, due to the ninja class being introduced, many assassins switched over to ninja, leaving it an almost extinct class. Yes, assassin is a pain to level up until level 140, but it is worthwhile after you learn some of the assassin-only skills. I find pting with hwiz/ench useful for mp recovery since some skills require a ton. Monks (please excuse my limited knowledge on such) are just as important as any other class. Like assassin, they are able to do damage with and without using mp. However, monks are more of a survivability soloist (imo) if statted correctly. Assassins tend to be support and solo, depending on the build. Either way, im sure you won't regret your choice. Just keep leveling because as more skills become available, the more potential you will have. Also, like assassins, monks are one of the harder classes to level and i feel as if in general, those two classes may just be the black sheep of mage and warrior class, and since people dont know much about them, it could lead to possible class discrimination (ive had to put up with this a ton and its not fun). So just be prepared. I think both classes are awesome.

Yeah they aren't they can do that as well but if your looking dps wise both are good. It just comes down to what you think is good for yourself

your definition of strong is? if soloing is what strong is then monk would be a very very weak class even with 100k+ damage just because they don't solo things. as you do not state this, i would assume strong is equal to how useful are you to other people or a party.
i would vote monk. both monk & backstab assassin deal large damage but the ability to heal is an advantage to party in my honest opinion.

Assassin would be useful in more situations. lies monks are more useful The reason i say assassins are more useful is because They dont die as easy they can deal high damage on more bosses and mobs compared to a monk cure status effects. if you need dps assassin can do it better in most cases excluding the barriers, and they are less likely to die while giving the dps because of the evasion boosts, hate reduction and ranged attacks. monk is in your face and pretty easy to hit. If you need a class to tank, assassin can better with the evasion buffs compared to a monk.

I would rather have a assasin in my pt reasons why....
A) Assasins can hit almost 1600 evasion making them amazing tanks allowing them to dodge almost all moves. Monks do not have this. B) Backstab is always useful no matter which pt you are in. GeoBreaker is pretty cool but its almost never used. 3) Survial is key for soling causes. I don't understand where the whole "Monk is best solo class" came from. Unlike enchanter its crippled by magic atks. Magic atks aren't a problem for proper assasins due to their aboslute evasion stat. Compared to other "soloing" classes monk is at the mere bottom.
All in all monk is a cool class..geobreaker is cool but not very useful unless boss has barrier. First time I saw someone say "lfm monk" was at rowell.

so now enchanter tank, paladin tank, bishop tank, ninja tank, minstrel tank and even assassin is tanking? megaroche would die naturally while waiting for your party to kill it.
1) assassin with 1600 eva backstab barely even hit 10k mark and claw type assassin dont always use it either. my gm is an assassin if you need some clearance. 2) 570 eva is enough to solo ganei. monk can reach this too with the slightest eva equip. you dont need godlike evasion at this moment. 3) assassin dont have absolute evasion. they only have magic evasion. absolute evasion evade critical hits.
the only problem with monk that i saw is the lack of essential stat of being a mage. INT. their mdef is next to useless. other than that, monk have magic resist built to their mastery which also should be counted.
i never deny the fact that claw type assassin is a better one in surviving boss & soloing if solo is what you mean by strong.

Y'all need to pt with a bs asassin to widen your POV's. xD
Claws users =/= BS asassins.
Though Claw users can USE backstab, it isn't considered a BS asassin because it doesn't revolve its build around BS thus not actually fully using BS's full potential.
