Ok so this topic is to discuss the line between selfish and helpful when it comes to giving out information about your character.
I am asked on a daily basis about my gear/pets/pet stats/abilities/ai/etc... down to the last little detail.
Usually I tell the basics like the gear but I never go into detail mainly because It takes to long to type since I have copies of my gear with diff abilities.
If I was to get over that, would giving the details about everything actually help or would it just make a copy of myself eventually? I like helping BUT I also know that learning things on your own is better.
Theres some quote about giving a guy a fish vs teaching him to catch fish himself. Cant remember how it goes lol *_*

I've actually said this 1 a good many times in game lol "give a man a fish and you will feed him for a day(this is sometimes "and he will be hungry in an hour"). Teach a man to fish and you will feed him for life" After some stuff, I decided what was initially to be the fb page for my guild into 1 with links to essential info nessecary to get by in the game all listed on the 1 page with a description for each of the links so they know where to look. This is along the lines of what I mail nubs asking for info on whatever and also to those that beg for stuff only coz I understand they mightn't know where or how to get anything yet. Usually I get a positive response along the lines of a heart felt ty and just a few that are obviously to lazy they simply want everything spoon fed to them -_- Tho sometimes... New player:where do I find a really strong weapon/does any1 know where to get or have a strong weapon they don't use? Me: hey new player. New player: yes? Me: I'll tell you a really good place to find everything you need here. New player: yea, where that? Me: it's called...Google 0.0

I'd say it's helpful and not selfish, as some of us studied the class & came to make new personnal builds/sets of equipments. When someone asks me about enchanter (auto or mblade) stats/gears, I give them the most basic details as normal stats/skill delay needed to spam mb/gears. They'll have to figure out the rest by themselves. Plus, there's already plenty of information on forums/from friends or guilds. And as you said, it's better to learn things by yourself. No need to spit all the juice out for them. O3o)b

I used the guides I got from the web as a reference and discovered some things on my own. Made a different build and etc. So I would say its not selfish if you refuse about giving an info regarding with your equips, items, stats, etc. This game is full of customization whatever class you have you can use anything. So from basic references you will do the process similar to scientific method, til you get the build that fits for a particular one. This is the one thing I like with this game no level/class restriction so everyone has the freedom to experiment things. It will require alot of spina and time but gladly we have so many references that we can analyze before spending. Also IMO copying isn't an issue at all since most player tends to walk the same path. Even so, all of us should conduct experiments, its fun when you discovered things on your own not just by copying xD I will call you selfish if you didnt tell where to get nemesis perhaps.

It makes no difference either way given in truth what works for will not another given so I will gladly tell my stats/gear they are not me and will not have the same outcome

In my opinion, it's helpful to not tell all your gear/pets/abilities/..., specially when the person being asked and the one asking have different styles.
It's better to teach the basics: what to look for in a gear, in a pet, what abilities work with that particular class/build. That way the person receiving the information will have room to grow and fit the advice to their style and budget.

I think its best to be as transparent as possible for the sake of sharing knowledge.

Personally I believe that people should have the option to look at different things rather than dying to know everything about someone else.
For example when people ask me about enchanters/my stats, I always reply with questions before I answer anything. For example..(What type are you going for? How much spina are you willing to loose for your cause? What does an enchanter do?)
If I receive decent answers then I know I can share info about gear that i personally use with someone who may be serious about making one. If not I give them links or i tell them the pros and cons.
Telling them my build type is fine but describing every stat point down to the bone isnt gonna help them cuz then they will try to imitate me instead of "painting with all the colors of the wind".

You can only do so much if the wish is to have people Learn the game, but you cannot control what they do with what you give. if it's an issue of having to re-type the same lengthy answer, then make a similar video you made showing your stuff and point them to it.

If people ask me about builds/equips I just let them know pros and cons of builds (this is assuming i'm knowledgeable about the class) and I give them an idea of what to look for on equips and give them some examples.
"I use (equip name) because it has good (hp/crt rate/matk/autoskill/etc) and that's good for (class name). I stay away from equips that have (stuff) because (reasons)."
I try to give an idea of what they need for their class and tell them to ask around or google something that's complicated or i'm not well informed about. If I have good gears then I'm obviously telling them about it, but since new gears will arrive as time moves on they should know whether or not what they're using is good.
Unless i'm not in the mood then I'll direct em to google haha.

I need advice on how to get 300k HP without buffs. KThanksbye.... Give them a little and they spread it around like those that receive the info are the most knowledgeable people on iruna. Not share anything and you're labelled as a @#%$%#$%^&^&%*%%^%$%.... Choose the lesser of the evils.
