I'm playing a class that utilizes a skill (wow so informative, this prevents me from being redirected to subboards c: )
This skill lands multiple hits off of white damage and cannot crit. I have heard melee does not affect skills but this skill is basically multiple auto attacks. (pretty sure you all know what it is >_>)
It should, in theory, apply itself to the attack skill multiple times as it is basically multiple attacks in a skill but it is a skill and it may not apple melee from ultimi/maggy/dorry/variant etc.
Can anyone clear this up as to whether or not it will apply melee multiple times or not at all. (Hint: bow only skill)
Now onto the next part,
What do you guys think of Melee damage if it can be multiplied upto 8 times onto a skill vs +20% damage buff on an additional. Or do you reccomend switching amongst the rapid 1s spamming of a skill?

Sounds like Arrow rain,
iirc its just based off atk, and no it will not apply fixed melee+ (but melee+ to elements will work) , however Dorry is still a good xtal
I assume you're an auto-attack sniper, you could go with 1 sec spam but the aspd would make it hard, I'd rather stick to fixed melee gear and fire AR whenever you please.
afaik for a vast majority of the skills I have heard of and seen, fixed melee does not apply to them.

You don't need to be afraid of being redirected, since the question is generic enough and useful for many classes.
To tell you the truth the only way to know if melee works on your skill is to test it. Take a melee set to a boss with a barrier you cant break and see how it fares.
From my experience with assassin, melee doesnt add to Backstab (and BS is basically just a critical hit - always critical - that get multiplied by some factors - weapon type, position, if it got a white flash/crit, etc...)
Not sure how it works for other classes, but if it's Arrow Rain I could test it.

Well arrow rain says #hits so I believe the hits to be auto attacks that cannot crit. If this is real, then melee should apply.. Could you please test for me on a weak mob vs a tank mob?

The way I look at why in the battle log it says number of hits is because AR is based off accuracy. I sadly cant test this for you, but I am certain they are not just multiple auto attacks A possible way to test if AR applies fixed melee+ is to check your auto attack dmg with and without any melee+ gear. Then fire AR with your display dmg setting on, look at each individual hit from AR and see if they match your melee+ dmg or no melee+.

So if melee does not affect AR, then does it apply to melee pierce as well? Since melee pierce adds damage by breaking into the enemy's defense, would that damage be added to skills such as AR?
