I decide to make bellow of order become 31+(28 now) instead of make iron armor 31+ because I just feel bellow of order can be use later on. I got accord sword ns and dodge charm ns d6. I still need sieger plate with high def

I failed super refinement today. It is so sad. I lost 25m and failed, excluding ore cost.

Do this def from gears help against rate attack? Because I think paladin is weaker against rate attack than normal physical attack (this is my reason why I made rate cut set to tank vs some bosses)

Like Yazmat stated already DEF is actually not as useful for Paladins because they get so many free resistances already that it feels almost useless to stack it even further, maybe for bragging right though who knows. I have an autoskill set that I use for my Monk but can use for my Paladin too that basically heals me more than the damage I get and I have a 12% chance of taking any damage at all, on top of that when I get hit I have a chance to recover 20% maxmp. Combined with the innate tankiness of this class you are basically in godmode anyway, just the lack of RELIABLE and CONTINUOUS damage is what hurts this class. Yazmat is definetely correct, the big winners of this update are the semi-tanky and even squishy classes actually. Monk/Gladiator/Beast Knight will go into the godmode territory as well now and they have way higher DPS potential than Paladin does and they actually have better hate generation with their Geobreaker (can't speak for the other classes atm because I don't play them). However they won't be taking some of the tank spots due to Devotion which is a must have for some bosses if the party is not as geared as the tank. The squishy classes will benefit hugely as well because they won't die as easily if they happen to get hit now. All classes will be able to solo more now but we will see when the DEF damage reduction caps out because with certain equip it should be possible to reach a combined 100 DEF which would be broken for the game so I am almost 100% sure that there is a cap, we just have to find it out. bk can hold lots of hate with fear howl. Also in place of devotion, we have a buff with fear lvl 2 that has chance (real big chance) to take no damage from aoe unless ur being directly attacked by mob. Personally I find it better than devotion.

Also in place of devotion, we have a buff with fear lvl 2 that has chance (real big chance) to take no damage from aoe unless ur being directly attacked by mob. Personally I find it better than devotion. First of all, devotion does not work on yourself, it's not mean to protect you, it's to protect your party members. So it should only be compared to similar skills that protect party members Now if by buff you mean the party clone from tyrant edge (is this even verified?) this only takes one hit, you can only sustain one hit with the clone, and you need to keep the boss under fear all the time while spamming tyrant edge... which is really really hard... (unless we are talking about some Ferzen like boss which you can one shot or easy kill anyways) Devotion works passively, no need to do anything else than casting it, Grand Crusade makes your devotion even better! (yes a little harder to cast since you need both exhaustion nullification and power up). If you want to protect yourself, ninja does this a lot better. If you want to protect your party, paladin is better at that. Again, am not even sure that Tyrant Edge does generate clones for party members, can someone verify this?

Anyway fear howl lvl 2 comes with "vitalize" buff that works passively and has chance to take no damage from aoe(it's a pt buff).

I also play beast knight. I know that this class also good at tank as well. It has some skill that work differently compared to pally, but it lacks some skills that pally have to.
In our case, fear howl and devotion, we are talking vitalize buff is better than devotion for me because it is cancel the damage by probability, but I believe Grand Crusade is better. Grand Crusade also has the drawback. It's hard to use.
In other case, pally has parry and stun parry skill while beast knight has magic parry skill. Also, pally has fortis while beast knight can spam clone. Hopefully, this will give the overview of both class in term of tanking.
For our topic, my bellow of order hits 30def just now.

Its abit OOT to discuss pally & BK comparison in here. Just for conclusion, Asobimo created BK concept as hybrid of pally & gladiator, so BK definitely capable to tank better than gladi and at same time higher dps than pally. But ofc as hybrid class, BK wont out dps a gladiator, and wont be better tank than paladin. This comparation based on pally's full pt support buff (guard + devotion + grand crusade) do better protection to party
