Alo fellow mins!
There comes a time in ur life while you were just singing at baums that out of nowhere, someone throws a plastic bottle at you. (I meant when u steal hate from the tanks and [the mobs] start plummeting u with whatever they have in their bags :3) Sad yeah, but weve all been there, right? Especially to those Mins like me that only have like 2-3k hp...yeah..
So, the bottomline is: Do we just need to lessen our hate rise %? Or better yet: do we need -100%? And if so, would that make us spam songs like crazy and not targetted?

And if so, would that make us spam songs like crazy and not targetted? I'd definitely say -Hate Rise gear will help. It also depends on who you are in a party with. You may be in a party with people who aren't doing a whole lot of damage or not getting much hate. Also the timing of your songs matters, if you use it right when another party member attacks the mob you may steal hate from them. Also if you do happen to steal hate, you want to make sure your party members can hit whatever is coming after you, so don't stand too far away, especially if you have people who are melee classes(Ninjas, Enchanters, Gladiators, Paladins, Monks).

Thanks for the reply Also the timing of your songs matters, if you use it right when another party member attacks the mob you may steal hate from them. Yes, this is really important indeed. When the mob is killed, my hate bar returns to normal, which in turn I can rebuff songs. Well, I might have to agree with this as an alternative to the desperate -100% Hate. XD ...so don't stand too far away, especially if you have people who are melee classes(Ninjas, Enchanters, Gladiators, Paladins, Monks). yeps, im okay with that XD Most of the time when that happens, I play the "Pied Piper" and bring the mobs closer to their deaths. XD Now, for the benefit of the doubt, and to those other peeps with the same thought in mind, would having -100% hate rise be the same to having a dyett book active? Like if there will be no chance for any mob to attack us in any way, except for area attacks. All I can think of for now is that it only acts as a hate rise restrictor--you get 0 hate, but once the tank dc's for instance, you are left with the tanking(or rather, kiting and running away like hell) business until ur tank reconnects. Also, if you're just strolling around maps, Im guessing the [aggressive] mobs will still attack you even if the -100% hate is active. Anyways those are just thoughts..Im open for clarifications and infos about this XD

I assume -100% Hate Rise would mean that you can not steal hate from other party members at all as you will get 0.

I see... and if given that: 1)You are in a two-man pt and the tank dc's. 2)Your Hate rise is still 0. 3)..and you're in the attack range of the mob. Im thinking that the full hate will be transferred to you. Which defeats the purpose of having -100% hate :/ But anyways, hehe, as you've said, timing is crucial, and maybe just being gentle* in our singing can make a difference. *A gentleness ability and a death chills crysta would be nice.

If you are just singing you don't really have to worry about hate during boss fights as your songs can be sung and affect all party members in the field regardless of distance, so you don't have to be an active target, if they dc you won't be targeted either.
If you are attack support you may need the gear to help calm aggro, but that would be the only instance I can see that happening. If you are a spam build though, I'd imagine you can spam dragonewt song also though, and u can again do that from max range and take little aggro. It also seems that some songs tend to get more aggro than others, Joy and Sorrow being the highest on the anger charts...
Partying with a ninja, I've only stolen aggro once while attacking because I was attacking and singing and spamming dragonnewt song. They were auto attacking not spamming doc... I think it just depends on what you want to accomplish as a minstrel and who you are partying with.

An alternative is to locate a servant that can manage hate for you ^_^ That way you can focus on xtals and abilities that help with damage/recovery/hp/mp conservation...
Just throwing that out there. The heal is needed anyways for minstrel so might as well take advantage of it haha!
