Region6,Philippines land of eternal summer where we have have seafoods and open beaches 365 days a year (cross to the next island and we got hot springs too) \(ˆ▽ˆ)/ And in our case we got 175 languages in our country; those living far from the the capital region can typically speak 3 language by age 6 Native tongue/filipino/english, with a variety of differences depending on education So we speak diff language when were talking to local peeps, national peeps and international peeps And north and central Europeans go on about their dialects ⊙_⊙ (I remember 2 Dutchmen I worked with, 1 from Rotterdam and the other from Amsterdam. The 1 from Rotterdam pointed this out after casually insulting his compatriot in his own dialect and turns to me.to explain that and that the guy from Amsterdam couldn't understand him)

can't quote the previous post so i'll just tag you. HaT®eD i think you misunderstood what i said. or i'm misunderstanding what you told me. to make it simple, what i meant was that the 175 you mentioned are branched out into dialects instead of languages. and although there is no clear distinction between what is a language and what is a dialect, to my understanding we would only call standardized languages as a language, and everything else that falls under a standardized language would be known as dialects and such. since i do not understand any of the examples you gave me, i will give you an example that i understand myself. since i am able to speak both mandarin and cantonese, i would call it two different dialects that are branched out from the chinese language. however, from a linguistic point of view, people would say that mandarin and cantonese are considered separate languages because they are mutually unintelligible. but then again, mandarin and cantonese share the same writing system. it is inevitable that two dialects that share the same writing system can be considered as two different languages. your last point is also a little contradictory, as i am unsure if you meant the 175 are considered as different languages or different dialects because your example is cantonese and mandarin being different dialects. whatever it is, i am only speaking from an outsider's point of view. i only classified the 175 into regional dialects instead of languages because i believe some of them are not completely mutually unintelligible in both written and spoken forms.

Philippines o.o anyone here in Olongapo/Balanga City area?
Weather erm just 2: either effin hot or underwater (floods qwq).
Language: if I talk with my mouth I'd speak Tagalog/Taglish (Tagalog and English XD) but if I type I'd use English over Tagalog. Also I'm a bit of a grammar nazi. It annoys me to death whenever I read "equipments"
