Tech effects it and also the characters level. The enchantments increase based on character level lets say your level 50 you will be able to add +5 enchants lvl60 +6 so really having a high level is required to do high level stats on equipment. At level 50 you can max all the skills in the blacksmith skill tree with all tech stat you can make some okay stuff but your stuck with only adding +5 stats so if you are wanting to make awesome +10 stat items then probably best bet would be to make a character that levels fast in parties like archer or mage then level up past level 50 at the least but I would recommend leveling up much higher than that before switching to blacksmith. Hope this helps its just what I have noticed about blacksmithing it may save you some frustration.

Dex also helps but tech adds way more you also do need to craft a ton of items also to raise your proficiency the higher that is the more likely you are to have slots and more points to use during the stat adding phase. But overall the one problem with crafting is you cant be a low lvl and expect to make items better than what you can get as drops from bosses. Sense the level of stats you can add is directly based off the character level. If you have seen items for sell that have +10stats thats a level 100 character making them at the minimum. Character level has probably the biggest impact on finished product so really consider what will be easiest to level before you try blacksmithing it can be seriously disappointing if your hoping to get good items and you farm materials and make some stuff only to be able to but low stats on them. Im just speaking from experience and currently dont bother with crafted items and am leveling a archer as fast as I can to level100.

Ok. I guess you know the answer by now, but let me share you this. if your stats is full STR, your get high potential on swords when you crete one. If your stat is high DEX, you get high potential on bows, High VIT for armors, high AGI for knuckles and high INT for rods/magic tool. TEC is mainly for the success of creation and adding potential points when putting a minus stat. hope this helps

Man, that kinda sucks cause then you probably can't to be a overall good blacksmith but a one specialized in certain types. Just out of curiosity, do you know how much potential certain number of stats give?

Im a dex BS who specializes in 1h bows and Bowguns. And I can vouch that cheeboy is telli g the truth.
normally, 10statpoints add +1potential on success. So when I create a shortbarrel, since i have 170dex, i have +17pot on success making it 36-37potential. but since as a dexBS, i can specialize in 3 items compared to other bs, the added pot on 1h and bows is considerably lower.
Its kinda common knowledge on eng channel coz i already reiterated that lots of times xD
P.S. if u still wont take our word, u can ask me to show u ingame. Ill trade you a shortbarrel clean with said pot. xD P.P.S u can also increase pot by adding negative stats. MATK-4% gives +4pot

I can create a 46pt potential following that. you can still increase it further as crux mentioned by putting a minus stat. If you have spare reset stats you can give it a shot. Enjoy :-)

But for the sake of this conversation, I tried 247 points on my stats and I can create an equipment with 46pts potential. If I add a minus stat, it goes to 50. It's still best if you guys play around with it, maybe you can discover a new technique. :-)
