So let me preface this by saying i have not tried this, this is all speculation/theorizing
Know that useless stat that not a lot of people talk about, or even know what it does? Range Cut%
-For those who dont know what it does, it decreases most AoE attacks damage received when you are not the direct target of an enemies attack.
I was thinking earlier about Cemetery on Necro, which gives Range Cut+100%, which negates all aoe dmg received and allows it to use full damage gear in most difficult mob/boss farms
What if we could replicate this on Summoner? Well, we actually can. Equipment that increases Range cut isnt very common, but it is there. Proposed gear:
Bercrete III (17%)
Sage Hat Reup (17%)
Pole Al xtal (15%)
2 Douin on 2s spec (30%)
Leaving 3 slots for Mp recovery, Resist, dmg etc
Here's where it gets a little unsure. Seemingly no one knows how much Range cut% the Range Cut ability gives (yes, there is Range cut abis out there) so im comparing this more or less to Rate cut. If a Lv 5 Abi on either Add or Arm (the two equips they can come on) gives 20%like Rate Cut, combined with the above equips would theoretically give a 99% Dmg cut, which could be filled in with another Range cut abi and allow more gear flexibility.
However it doesnt stop there, lets say im incorrect and a Lv5 abi gives 5%, or less than Rate Cut. We also have Amartier(12%) for armor, and Larkas Al (5%) which would cover the remaining %needed in the worst possible case for a total damage cut
Using a resist set helps, but often times the boss just hits too hard, or you dont have the MaxHp necessary for it. Both Damage Negate sets and Eva are complete damage cuts,but its relying on RNG. Range cut completely negates a % of damage, 100% of the time (aside from some notable exceptions like Roy's Dark javelin attack, but there isnt very many bosses who do this)
FIinally, as many other %Based damage cuts do, i thought "it probably has that 95% Cap", but then i realized necro passively has 100% Range cut in cemetery, and unless Necro is a special case, it should show 100% Range cut affects damage taken with no cap. But for the sake of what-ifs, lets say it does have a 95% Cap. The armor slot of this set is still open to customization, so lets look at options.
Boo inil: 26% Damage cut to reduce any damage as far as possible while giving a boost to Atk/Matk
Following armors are yet to be released:
Licht armor final up Inil: Same case as Boo but 1% more resist, higher base def, and a small Hp boost
Dragon Mail final up: 8% Auto, decent resist%, chance to negate dmg taken. Paired sith Sage Hat, nearly 20% Auto% with 3 Xtal slots open, 4 Al xtals open, and 3-4 free Abi slots open. If you have 5k hp, with a 95% Range cut, a boss would need to do in excess of 100k to do enough damage through the Dmg cuts to exceed your MaxHp and ignore the dmg negate chance. Very few bosses can do that much
In conclusion: Someone needs to test this xD it could potentially blow standard Resist sets away for summoner.
