Taking into account all your equips: 1. 100 - (10 + 26+9 + 28+9) - (13 +10 - 10)% = 18 - 13% = 15.66% dmg received with Arelta. 2. 100 - (10 + 26+9 + 21+9) - (13 +10 +8 +10 -10)% = 25 - 31% = 17.25% dmg received with Monty Beret. I think Arelta has no hiddens. So if I super refine to 95 def will 95% melee res still lower the dmg? Is it 2 filters or one big filter

95 equipment def reduces same damage as 95% melee resistance, but melee resistance also has the ability to reduce hp based physical damage, which equipment defense doesn't have. Melee resistance and equipment defense doesn't stack up, so they reduce damage separately.
If you have melee resistance and equipment defense both at 95 then value of equipment defense becomes 0.
So damage reduction is capped at 95%.
If your melee resistance is less than 95% while equipment defense 95, then value of melee resistance becomes 0, but melee resistance hp based damage reduction value remains active.
If your equipment defense is less than 95 and melee resistance is 95% then value of equipment defense becomes 0.
When both equipment defense and melee resistance is less than 95 then both reduce damage separately.

Well, Let's see my hybrid BK EQ Sauro Blade L5 +9 ◇Curonne (Melee R +22%) ☆Rate cut 3 (I only use for tank hard boss lol) Boo (up) (D45) +9 ◇Iniliba (Melee R +23%) ☆MPC 5 Ardour cachenez (D30) +9 ◇Rossam ☆MPC 5 Acc ☆Rate cut 1 SBS ◇Rossam ◇Rossam ☆Rate cut 4 Skill Guard 2 (Melee R +30%) Alleviation (sword : Melee R +30%, Magic R +30%) Al Gate Keeper Leviam (Magic R +10%) Malti (Rate cut +10%) Skelk (Eva +15%) Vatendeth (Melee R +10%, Magic R +10%) Summarydef from EQ =75 refine 9+9 =18 def+refine =93 Melee R : gear+skill+Al = 45+60+10 =115 So both Def and Melee R can work thogether. and can reduce more than 95% damage.

Suppose you have def 0 and mdef 0, and mob hits you and you take 100,000 dmg. Then after that if you get 10,000 def or 10,000 mdef and again mob hits you and this time you take 90,000 dmg instead of 100,000.

It would be better if it applied at the final step i guess, i mean after reducted by % variables.
