Hello. I know there are a lot of useful threads out there, but none of which you can call a "guide". So here I am making one.
Skills
Let's start with the skill descriptions. I'm only going to describe the skills you get while changing to Gladiator apprenticeship and further.
Double attack (passive) - Chance to attack enemy twice.
Edit: since there has been a numerous amount of questions about autoskills, be aware that double attack "kills" EVERY autoskill which activates by attack when it engages (the only exception is HP&MP regen chance by attack/damage skill from Bloodthirst).
SLv4 Gladiator apprentice (normal damage x1.8)
SLv5 (Book - Delma - Lograth City) (Lv240) (normal damage x2)
SLv6 (Quest - King Elbano - Capital City Eldan [Echipo x50, Farzan x50, Knight Hair Ornament x1, Hard Water x30]) (Lv320) (normal damage x2.3)
Warcry - Raises MaxHP and ATK
SLv3 MP128 (Gladiator apprentice) (ATK+16% MaxHP+16% 4 minutes duration)
SLv4 MP160 (Quest - Delma - Lograth City [Mob Piteco x60, Manitari x30, Polished Hide x6, Warm Fur x3]) (Lv260) (ATK+20% MaxHP+20% 5 minutes duration)
Relax (passive) - Raises auto HP and MP recovery
SLv3 (Full gladiator) (HP natural recovery +30, MP natural recovery +15)
SLv4 (Book - Sitara - Kreya City) (Lv260) (HP natural recovery +? MP natural recovery +?)
Berserk - Converts all of your remaining MP into full out attack rush (duration depends on current mp left) (pretty much useless after you get tempest)
SLv2 MP150 (all MP) (Quest - Levia - Port Spargas Pub [Meanae x50 Lantern Ghost x50, Gator Samurai x50, Kyon x50]) (Lv160)
Sword mastery (passive) - Gain knowledge about the handling of the sword. Raises ATK and hit rate when wielding sword.
SLv1 (Gladiator apprentice)
SLv2 (Full gladiator)
SLv3 (Book - Filely - Eryldan Desert) (Lv200)
Astute - Attack enemy with a sharp blow. Power is dependent on the critical damage. Procs dizzy by chance (proc rate depends on DEX). Requires -5s skill delay for spam.
SLv1 MP32 (Gladiator apprentice) (about 1.5 times the critical damage)
SLv2 MP48 (Full gladiator) (about 2.0 times the critical damage)
SLv3 MP64 (Book - Matif - Drafbourg) (Lv200) (about 2.5 times the critical damage)
SLv4 MP80 (Book - Sitara - Kreya City) (Lv300) (about three times the critical damage)
Cross counter - Counterattack the enemy upon receiving a hit, deals the same damage as your normal critical hit (it can't double attack and it doesn't work if you evade the attack)
SLv1 MP36 (Full gladiator) (duration 5 minutes)
SLv2 MP28 (Quest - King Elbano - Capital City Elban [Orc x30 Malfil x30, Poisonous Claw x15, Strange Spine x30, Sky Dragon Horn x1]) (Lv160) (effect time of 7 minutes)
SLv3 MP20 (Book - Sitara - Kreya City) (Lv260) (effect time of 9 minutes)
Penetrate - Raises ATK power, recoils the damage dealt a bit. At skill level 3 the recoil is cancelled.
SLv1 MP52 (Full gladiator) (ATK +5% recoil+2%, 7 minutes duration)
SLv2 MP65 (Quest - Levia - Port Spargas Pub [Obligaus x1 Fire Spirit x40, Water Spirit x40, Wind Spirit x40, Earth Spirit x40]) (Lv220) (ATK +7% recoil+1% 8 minutes duration)
SLv3 MP78 (Quest - King Elbano - Capital City Eldan [Parazaia x1 Death Ent x60, Little Devils Nail x5, Sharp Claw x5]) (Lv300) (ATK +?% Effect time of ? minutes)
Solid Skin - Gives you second layer of HP based on your STR (amount of STR points x20 basically). Very useful skill, similar to enchy's stone skin. Reduces piercing damage by half when the skill finishes.
SLv1 MP100 (Quest - Saterica City Pub) (Lv150)
Regenerate - Regenerates your HP, consumes 1 gladiator revita (you can use it without it but then your HP drops by half and the duration is shorter)
SLv1 MP1 (Quest - Levia - Port Spargas Pub [Cobalt x1, Fearful Evil Eye x20, Blazing Hellfire x40, Hard Bark x40]) (Lv180) (up to HP about 5 percent of the recovery effect time in 5-second intervals of 2 minutes)
SLv2 MP1 (Book - Sitara- Kreya City) (Lv280) (up to HP about 6% in 4-second intervals recovery effect time of 2 minutes)
Esperanza - Greatly increases your ATK power and DEF for 1 minute, reduces EVA to 1. After it wears off it leaves you with exhaustion (greatly decreases ATK/DEF).
Edit: now that Bloodthirst has been patched you can pretty much keep your esperanza up for the entire time, as Bloodthirst now gives you Exhaustion Nullification effect.
SLv1 MP300 (Quest - Levia - Port Spargas Pub [Mezzaluna x1 Zimov x1, Dead Bones x20, Peppercorn x50]) (Lv180) (ATK + STR × 1.0 effect time of 60 seconds fatigue state 60 seconds)
SLv2 MP330 (Quest - Matif - Drafbourg [Megaroche x60 Balor x60, Fine Needle x40, Reflex Pill x20]) (Lv240) (ATK + STR × 1.1 effect time of 60 seconds fatigue state 50 seconds)
Sword Tempest - Damage skill, aoe, gives you attack speed buff and Tempest gauge which gives you more EVA and melee pierce the more % you have. At 90% or more it halves your attack speed (berserk/interfike aspd). Consumes 1% of your HP upon activation. The duration of ASPD buff depends on your skill delay. Requires -5 seconds delay for spam (also doesn't give you ASPD buff while in exhaustion state). Deals more damage when attacking multiple enemies. AGI impacts this skill heavily, adding both massive damage and evasion boosts to the skill.
Edit: the skill got patched in one of the recent updates, the damage got boosted slightly and maximum amount of Tempest has been raised to 150%.
Edit 2: 275 is no longer the cap for damage boost. AGI now increases Tempest damage indefinitely.
SLv1 MP10 (Quest - Matif - Drafbourg [Draco x80 Lutor x40, High Ent x20, Beelzenoid x1]) (Lv220) (effect time of 8 seconds)
Pillar Blade - Damage skill, aoe, deals higher damage than your normal critical hit. Inflicts bleeding status on enemy if it's dizzy (bleeding damage based on STR). Requires -2s skill delay for spam.
SLv1 MP12 (Quest - Levia - Port Spargas Pub [Sianas x1 Hard Goblin x50, Pagron x25, Black Metal Bit x50]) (Lv200)
Bloodthirst - Active skill, needs at least 85% of tempest gauge to activate it, leaves you with 10% after activation. In exchange it gives you skill&item delay reduction (-1.5s), HP&MP recovery chance by attack and by skills (yes, it can proc on every damage skill). The duration depends on your current HP left, the less the better. On boss fights it's best to switch gears to get more maxhp, activate it and then switch back to your normal gears.
Edit: Bloodthirst has been patched in one of the most recent updates, it now gives you Exhaustion Nullification effect with duration as long as your Combative effect. It still needs at least 85% of tempest for activation, but now the amount of Tempest you are left with after activation depends on how much Tempest you have during the activation (drops by 85% each use).
SLv1 MP? (Quest - Delma - Lograth City [Calmo x30 Zazel x1, Ape's Rag x30, Crystal Eye x30] (Lv260)
Job mastery (passive) - Job bonus is improved.
SLv1 (Quest - King Elbano - Capital City Eldan [Aleek x60 Pincer x60, Mountain Dragon Shell x1, Apatite x30]) (Lv280)
Volunteer - Raises spirit depending on bravery. Large bonus to tempest. Has cooldown time. (Effect: +100% tempest gauge, 30 sec "Recast" debuff)
SLv1 (Book - Sitara - Kreya City [Courage and Bravery 1]) (Lv320) (7M Spina)
Hervorhild - Become the guardian of troops of refined skill. Greatly decrease damage to allies. (Consumes 85% tempest gauge)
SLv1 (Quest - King Elbano - Elban [Cellect: Miasma Crystal Fragment x1, Dragon's Blood x2, Raging Gale x5, Unextinguishable Spark x5] (Lv340)
Valkyrie Blade - Swing the Valkyrie's sword. Consumes tempest and deals big DMG to enemies. (Uses 85% tempest gauge. Single target dmg that also ignores barriers)
SLv1 (Quest - King Elbano - Elban [Kill: Herja (x30) Angel Luna (x30); Collect: Light Sword Handguard (x1) Sparkling Matter (x30)] (Lv340)
Big thanks to Sasorro for his thread: irunaonline.boards.net/thread/30255/new-320-340-skill-quest
Builds
STR=CRT>VIT - Probably the most common build around. Deals less damage than other builds, but is very tanky and useful at low levels.
Pros:
-tanky
-probably the best solo mob grinder among other builds (with bloodthirst you pretty much don't even have to bother casting solid skin)
-with recent skill adjustments it's now seriously (SERIOUSLY) hard to kill as long as you manage to keep your Esperanza up
Cons:
-lowest damage
-low evasion
-less wanted in parties at higher levels
-chugs potions like a junkie if you don't use bloodthirst (or if you don't pt a bishop)
There's so many stat points to spend nowadays that this build should not even be considered an option as an endgame build anymore. You can build up vit but it's not the main stat you should focus on, especially with all the resistance gear available.
STR=CRT>AGI*>VIT - Build with balanced damage and survival. Deals higher tempest damage than previous build (i mean, a lot higher), but can take less beating.
Pros:
-high evasion
-high tempest damage
-decent hp pool
-one of the "endgame" builds
Cons:
-doesn't offer the highest DPS available
-outclassed by non vit builds
STR=CRT>DEX>VIT - Build with guaranteed skill delay reduction and some VIT to make up for lack of evasion.
Edit: the soon-to-be-released valkyrie blade will significantly up the DPS of this build, especially if you have invested points in RDL
Pros:
-deals highest pillar blade and astute damage
-high dizzy proc chance from astute
-DEX grants additional skill delay reduction
Cons:
-low evasion
-still needs skill delay gears, DEX isn't everything
-tempest damage not as high as with AGI builds
-fragile without resistance gear
STR=CRT>AGI*>DEX - Build with highest damage in game, not recommended at low levels, great for party players
Pros:
-deals highest tempest damage, high pillar and astute damage
-high evasion
-high dizzy proc rate from astute
-DEX grants additional skill delay reduction
Cons:
-low survival
*As AGI got buffed, 275 AGI is no longer the cap damage boost for Tempest. It now benefits from AGI no matter the amount.
Additional stats:
RDL - useful if you have red/yellow lines in your apostolia, but don't invest in it if you're underleveled, since the bonus isn't as high as from the conventional (non-apostolia) stats. If you plan to invest points in that, save it for the last.
A quick overview of what affects what:
STR - ATK, Solid Skin amount, Bleeding damage, overall skill damage
VIT - Max HP, DEF, MDEF
AGI - EVA, Tempest damage, Tempest EVA gain (prevents from skill spam, but there are workarounds for that, see Tips and Tricks section)
DEX - Dizzy proc chance (from Astute), ATK, Accuracy (not important), Pillar Blade skill delay, overall skill delay (reduction isn't that high, so it's not wise to go for DEX as a third stat just because of the -SD)
CRT - CRT chance, CRT damage, overall skill damage
Equipment
Most of the equipment descriptions are copied from JP wiki, so forgive me for messy translations. Also not every equip is here, so if you want me to add something to the list please provide me with stats. I'll skip most of the HP gears and only list the gears with beneficial stats.
Popular/top tier equipment will be underlined so people can see them as a reference & know what stats to search for when gearing up.
Side note: Keep in mind most of the stuff listed here is interchangeable between all of the builds, different build doesn't necessarily mean different equipment.
Edit: I have "translated" some of the descriptions so it's easier to read through them. Also I took several descriptions from iruna-online.info , so there might be some mistakes (although I'm trying to constantly update the guide to get rid of them).

The placement of AL xtals should be variations of this:
You can either place green xtals in the middle and red on the sides (like seen on the picture) or red in the middle and green on the sides. However you do it is up to you, but with these setups you get 6 yellow lines, which is ideal for maximum damage. You can adjust them according to your preferences, like placing 5 green and 3 yellow lines, or all green lines, but it won't give you maximum damage.
Leveling
120-200 - I don't really think there are many options here, just do your MQ or, if you're determined to grind, grind megaroches in parties. Or basically anything that you can kill that gives decent exp.
200+ - Now here's when the fun begins, as you now have pillar blade, your first AOE skill. Megas are still a way to go, but now you have more variety. Tigris gives decent exp, and you can exchange their drops for more exp. They also drop atleta ring, if you're lucky you might get a slotted one. If your DEF is decent they will deal 1 damage to you. You can also try nommars (and save your dirty gears until you're 240)
240+ - Nommars definitely recommended and you have just unlocked the Dirty Gears quest. You can also try Baum Warriors, they shouldn't be too hard. But if they are, you can just explore and try grinding mobs which you can 1 shot with pillar.
260+ - With bloodthirst unlocked baum warriors shouldn't be too much of a challenge, if your build is VIT based you pretty much don't even have to worry about casting solid skin here. You can also try jacbos, you won't kill them in 1 hit so be careful, they hit pretty hard. Grind Nommars, Yardes, Third Eyes, whatever you're comfortable with.
Just grind Third Eyes
Tips and Tricks
The trick to spam tempest without meele attacking in between each Tempest (without using -ASPD gear) is to press down the movement stick immediately after Tempest's animation is finished (make sure to time it right so you don't move around). There's no longer a need to do that as a function which lets you turn off auto attacking completely was added.
To get as much potential out of your bloodthirst as possible, use regenerate without gladiator revita and switch your gears to make your max hp as high as possible (keep current hp at low values) and then use your bloodthirst. Using this metod on boss fights is not recommended, unless it's an easy boss.
As for farming, not gonna say much about it, because this isn't a spina making guide. But here's a tip, after getting Bloodthirst you can easily solo farm Sofys or Mezza. Socialize to get more farm opportunities.

Builds
Pros:

Leveling
Tips and Tricks
To get as much potential out of your bloodthirst as possible, use regenerate without gladiator revita and switch your gears to make your max hp as high as possible (keep current hp at low values) and then use your bloodthirst. Using this metod on boss fights is not recommended, unless it's an easy boss.
As for farming, not gonna say much about it, because this isn't a spina making guide. But here's a tip, after getting Bloodthirst you can easily solo farm Sofys or Mezza. Socialize to get more farm opportunities.
