Hello guys and good days. I think thers already a formula for dmg received formula in this forum and im sure some of mortals didnt understand it right. So lemme show the formula
First of all ther is 2 kind of def, from stat/skill and from equips. Its not same. Def on stat serve as raw number Def on equips serve as multiplier.
Lets go for melee damage (Raw damage- def on stat) x (1-(equips def and refine value of arm and add/100)) x (1-(melee resist%))
Lets take the raw dmg for 50000. Def on stat around 400. Have armor+9 (+9 equip def) with def 22 and super refined 20 times (+20 equip def) Additional +9 (+9 equip def) with def 13, super refined 20 times (+20 equip def). Total equip def is 93 def. Also have 20% melee resist.
(50000-400) x (1-(93/100)) x (1-(20%)) 49600 x (1-0.93) x (1-0.2) 49600 x 0.07 x 0.8 3472 x 0.8 2777.6 dmg received. Cool right? (。・ω・。) i found this formula at jpwiki and hope my explanation is better than at jpwiki
About magic damage received calculation? Its pretty similar to melee damage received calculation but equip def is not involved.
U can reduce melee damage by def, equip def and resist while to reduce magic dmg, u can only do that by mdef and magic resist only... Any correction is welcome.

Okay I have Element Resist and Damage cut formula here, Element resist work after melee/magic formula
Lets take your result of your melee dmg formula: 2777 dmg received. Now I have 60% Element Resist (Pally's Fortis 3): 2777 - 60% = 1110.8 Dmg received
Damage cut reduce the final dmg (doesn't work against map dmg), i.e I use Iniliba xtal's autoskill (25% dmg cut) 1110.8 - 25% = 833.1 dmg received
Note that there are special HP dmg type (Not Map effect dmg), which is IGNORE Equip's DEF, Melee R, Magic R, Element R, only Rate cut reduce it. For example: Young Sauro (EP6), Nejua (Earthquake attack) ; Roy, Cordal (Nemesist attack). Dmg formula here (The dmg deal to % of your MAX HP) - (% Rate cut) = Final result. (You receive 110% MAX HP dmg) - (44% rate cut) = 110 - 44% = 61.6% HP dmg received
(3i's Shell Break attack is a HP based melee attack, which can be reduced by both Melee R and Rate cut, but Equipment DEF and Element R have no effect here)
Map effect/Map dmg are the type of dmg (Fixed or HP based) that nothing able to reduce them: Gloenra, Joshuca, Valtia

does the melee and magic damage received formulae cap at 95%? Like, if you have 95DEF, will having meleeR reduce melee damage further?

does the melee and magic damage received formulae cap at 95%? Like, if you have 95DEF, will having meleeR reduce melee damage further? Each formula (equip's DEF, resist, element resist, rate cut) have cap And yes, you can reduce it further, like having 95DEF and 95% melee R

so 95DEF and 95% meleeR = you only take 0.25% melee damage?

so 95DEF and 95% meleeR = you only take 0.25% melee damage? i think its 0.0025 actually with 95 equip DEF and melee resist

(The dmg deal to % of your HP) - (% Rate cut) = Final result. (You receive 110% HP dmg) - (44% rate cut) = 110 - 44% = 61.6% HP dmg received From JP wiki (Google translate): [ Rate reduction ] Reduce attack damage depending on your maximum HP by ○% * Not subtracted from HP dependency rate, multiply by final damage * Upper limit 95% The way I understood it is: (The dmg deal to % of your HP) * (1 - % Rate cut) = Final result. (You receive 110% HP dmg) * (1 - 44% rate cut) = 110 * 0.56 = 61.6% HP dmg received ≈ 61% HP dmg received (due to truncation)

Another question. About this rate dmg thing, does it depend on character maxhp% or current hp%? If depend on character maxhp% i think its kinda unfair cuz it will force the player to always stay their hp at maximum to withstand the rate damage

Test result of Resist & Rate cut in my Paladin vs Sauro EP6. My total resist: * 95% Melee R * 95% Magic R * 16% Rate cut* 76% Neutral R (Fortis 3 + Duel shield 3) * Max HP around 220k (rounded) I used Duel Shield this time This time I changed Duel Shield to Zweig shield ns, my new stats: * 95% Melee R * 95% Magic R * 36% Rate cut* 60% Neutral R (Fortis 3) * Max HP around 217k (rounded) And the result:

Test result of Resist & Rate cut in my Paladin vs Sauro EP6. My total resist: * 95% Melee R * 95% Magic R * 16% Rate cut* 78% Neutral R (Fortis 3 + Duel shield 3) * Max HP around 220k (rounded) I used Duel Shield this time This time I changed Duel Shield to Zweig shield ns, my new stats: * 95% Melee R * 95% Magic R * 36% Rate cut* 60% Neutral R (Fortis 3) * Max HP around 217k (rounded) And the result: that's very interesting.. I've always thought that cap melee res would help mitigate RC, but young sauro proved otherwise. looks like requiring RC on its own is inevitable for tanking after all

Cordal EP6, the new boss, has 2 Nemesis attack type, one is normal HP based attack which can be reduced by rate cut, one is special type which nothing able to reduce this * Haven't tested the normal HP dmg, but I think it does 30% of max HP, while special type does 50% of max HP. And again, Melee/Magic/Element Resist have no effect against this dmg

(。・ω・。) i found this formula at jpwiki and hope my explanation is better than at jpwiki Above quoted from 1st post malice Bout def most think its effect on dmg is subtraction so do i. Asobimo kinda say something weird bout def n dmg received Asobimo answer is def stat it divides physical damage lol. Its lottery question floor 36-39 knuckleshield emaze Kinda doubt it coz in t same lottery T asobimo answer is staff. T right answer is claw Maybe spec claw not yet exist when lottery made. They should revised it tou if its incorrect
