DoC Spam Ninja Guide
By Zura
By Zura
Hello everyone, and welcome to my first guide! Don't hesitate to lay down the hammer of justice on anything you find incorrect. I won't bite *rawr* Also, please drop down any comments and suggestions to make the guide better. This guide is a product of months of research, testing, and info sharing with trustworthy forum members. It aims to guide confused old ninjas and newbies toward a build that fits their own playstyle, as well as to stand as a sort of 'help me' thread for those that refuse to read guides and make redundant threads concerning questions that have already been answered numerous times. For the love of all that is good, please ask here instead of making a new thread.

Dance of Clones, a.k.a. DoC, spamming has been avoided by many due to its need of expensive items such as Quick Cool abilities. Depending on the build, it may also lack the evasion needed to comfortably keep its DPS constant and significant. However, all these have changed when the balancing came. DoC spamming can now be cheap and effective, especially in the lower levels. I, myself, can dish out up to 200k per second at level 196, and that is without OP gears and any damage-boosting buffs and consumables. Read on to learn more.

For those of you that are wondering, here are the changes for relevant skills that came with the recent balancing: (for more info, check out this thread: irunaonline.boards.net/thread/28309/iruna-balance-patch-jp )

I'll list here some builds that I believe would be effective. Each has their own pros and cons, and can serve a handful of playstyles. Note that the recommended weapon types are arranged based on its ATK up by stat from highest to lowest.
G e a r s & S t u f f
We now move on to the stuff I can recommend you could use. Remember that not everything you could use will be listed here. Take note that with every build, you need at least -2 sec sd to spam DoC since DEX does not affect DoC skill delay. The items in this section are listed in no certain order. The item descriptions are taken from iruna-online.info and the JP wiki.
Gearing Tip: If you want to maximize your damage, build up your set with mostly ATK items. Critical damage up to 15% is acceptable, but only if your ATK+% is around 65%+, and up to 30% if your ATK+% is 130%+ when 2s all gears are available. Also, having melee +10% to +20% to element is recommended, and up to 30% when 2s all gears are available.
P l a y s t y l e s
Life as a DoC spam ninja isn't all cloning and hitting the DoC button over and over (although it will be like that most of the time lol). I'll list a few things you could consider trying out depending on your opponent.
L e v e l i n g
That about sums it up. Thanks for reading!
Unconfirmed: Ninja's stat correction: 3STR 14INT ?VIT 15AGI 9DEX ?CRT

{SPOILER: What Changed?}
- Bunshin no Jutsu and Desperate Move can only stack clones up to 1, and drain 1% of your MaxMP per second per clone. The MP drain, however, only activates when you are in battle and when the enemy is targetting you. This means that there is no MP drain when you're just sitting in town, or when you have a tank. Losing all your MP will delete all your clones.
- Desperate Move, when used under 10% MaxHP, stops the MP drain of clones for its duration and adds an MP Recovery buff for 10 seconds. The buff heals your MP by 1% of your MaxMP every second.
- Yin and Yang (buff of 10 mins with various effects) lets Bunshin no Jutsu and Desperate Move stack clones up to 3. This means that you only need -2 sec sd to spam 3 clone DoC. This also means that you'll be drained of 3% of your MaxMP when 3 clones are active. These buffs also give you PF, if you have it.
- Yin adds 3 clones, 1k HP, and 10% evasion. However, if you use Yin again, the effects are lost including the clones. Using Yang also removes the clones and replaces the Yin buff with Yang.
- Raiton only paralyzes when Yang is active.
- DoC damage went up. 1 clone DoC now deals 4x critical damage, which means a 3 clone DoC now deals 12x critical damage.
- Phantom Flame's skill delay is now fixed at 3 seconds.

I'll list here some builds that I believe would be effective. Each has their own pros and cons, and can serve a handful of playstyles. Note that the recommended weapon types are arranged based on its ATK up by stat from highest to lowest.
{SPOILER: Builds}
#1 - STR = CRT > VIT > 100 GR = RD
That's right: VIT on a ninja. This build allows you to have enough HP to survive hits that go through clones. It also enables you to comfortably spam PF DoC without worrying too much about your survival.
#2 - STR = CRT = DEX > 100 GR > RD
This is a pure damage build with some versatility. More or less the same as build #1, but theoretically, it deals higher damage.
#3 - STR = CRT = AGI > GR > RD
This is a damage build with focus on evasion. At 428 AGI, it is possible to achieve 1k+ evasion without any evasion gears.
#4 - STR = CRT > 256 AGI > VIT > 100 GR = RD
This is a damage build with some evasion and HP. You could say it's a balanced build.
Why 256 AGI?
#1 - STR = CRT > VIT > 100 GR = RD
That's right: VIT on a ninja. This build allows you to have enough HP to survive hits that go through clones. It also enables you to comfortably spam PF DoC without worrying too much about your survival.

Why 256 AGI?
{SPOILER: Why 256 AGI?}
Our evasion rate cap is normally 80%. That means that no matter how high your evasion is, there's always a 20% chance you'll get hit. Having 256 AGI raises that cap to 95%. Take note that even if you have 256 AGI, it doesn't guarantee that you'll have 95% evasion rate. You still need to meet the evasion requirement for every enemy you face to reach the evasion rate cap.

Weapons
{SPOILER: Weapons}
Mirror Claw Special [Special Claw] (not released)
- ATK: 270+
- Stats: Special Claw, ATK +14%, Critical up, Spell burst +3%
- Comments: Most recommended weapon for damage in the future. This weapon out-damaged Mephisto Claw during my tests in the test server. However by my calculations, Mephisto out-damages this claw, so in terms of damage, we won't know for sure unless we try it in-game. Good thing about this claw is that it has no negatives (it has one pointless stat tho), so this will still be the top pick for HP builds. Note that all special claws reduce ASPD to minimum, so that's a plus for spamming.
Mephisto Claw [Special Claw]
- ATK: 280+
- Stats: Special Claw, ATK +20%, MaxHP -30%, MaxMP +30%, MP Cost -5%
- Comments: Currently the most recommended claw for damage. Also eases cloning, reduces MP cost by a bit, and increases the MP regen from Desperate Move.
Purity Claw II [Special Claw]
- ATK: 254
- Stats: Skill delay -1.2 sec, Heal recovery +23%, STR +5, MaxHP +15%, DEF up by STR
- Comments: While it lacks damage stats, it does have -sd and the HP could prove to be useful depending on the situation. Pretty nice starting weapon.
Pile Knuckle [Special Claw]
- ATK: 261
- Stats: Special Claw, ATK +10%, Melee counter chance by defense, Melee up by Lv
- Comments: Another special claw for damage. Cheaper than most, good damage. Lacks -sd tho, but it's still a good weapon choice. Upgraded version of Stake Knuckle
Stake Knuckle [Special Claw]
- ATK: 190+
- Stats: Melee up by Lv, Melee counter chance by defense, Special Claw
- Comments: Potato version of Pile Knuckle. Pretty good starting weapon for damage considering its upgrade.
Sauro Blade L5 [Normal Sword]
- ATK: 318
- Stats: ATK +5%, Critical damage +19%, Heal reward +8%, STR +10, VIT +10, items delay -1.7 sec, Melee +400, Melee pierce +5%, (Hidden: melee and magic resistance up by 5% of STR)
- Comments: While critical damage has certainly been nerfed, this sword should still pack a punch. Not only that, it also comes with resistances that would prove useful for times when your clones are unavailable. -1.7sec item delay is also very nice. L6 should be out now and is preferred over this one.
Legacy of Will II [Normal Sword]
- ATK: 293
- Stats: ATK +18%, MaxHP +15%, MaxMP +15%, Accuracy +15%, Evasion +20%, Melee pierce +18%, Item recovery +15%, ATK up by AGI
- Comments: All-around sword. Has bits of everything useful for damage, survival, and utility.
Stardust Bow [Special Bow]
- ATK: 285
- Stats: Special Bow, ATK +20%, Critical Damage +17%, Absolute & Magic Evasion +20%. (Hidden: ASPD Minimum)
- Comments: A very good special bow. Features damage and survival, and makes spamming easier by setting ASPD to minimum.
Gerifalte II [Special Bow]
- ATK: 285
- Stats: Special Bow, Melee +25% to Neutral, HP recovery using MP by defense, Small ATK up by AGI
- Comments: Good elemental weapon for high AGI users. The HP recovery by defense could be problematic tho as it is by itself, and because it consumes MP every time you are hit.
Irogeos Bow [Special Bow]
- ATK: 278
- Stats: Special bow ATK +12% Melee Pierce +10% AGI +10 Absolute evasion +5% Hate rise -10% attacks, added in the probability attack
- Comments: A special bow with melee pierce. Use against enemies with high DEF.
Canary Bow [Normal Bow]
- ATK: 277
- Stats: ATK +15%, Critical Damage +14%, Max HP & Max MP -20%, Delay -1.5 Second.
- Comments: A bow built for damage. Eases cloning, and comes with both skill and item delay. Lowers MP regen, but also lowers MP drain.
Yggdrasil Bow [Normal Bow]
- ATK: 295
- Stats: All Elements, ATK +12%, MP cost -25%, Heal recovery +35%, Damage cut if HP is 25% or less.
- Comments: A bow that should deal more damage than Canary. -MP cost is nice, and the damage cut could be useful for HP builds.
World Tree Bow [Normal Bow]
- ATK: 285
- Stats: All Elements ATK +6% MP cost -20% Heal recovery +30%
- Comments: Potato version of Yggdrasil. Same use, less effects, lower price.
Petal Scream [Normal Rod]
- ATK: 252+
- Stats: STR +8, CRT +8, ATK +20%, Range +2, ASPD +30% attack, Critical rate up chance by attack, MATK +10%, Critical rate +30%
- Comments: A rod made for physical damage. I'm actually surprised this is a thing. Whatever floats your boat, I guess.
Flower Staff [Normal Rod]
- ATK: 242+
- Stats: STR +7, CRT +7, ATK +16% Critical rate up chance by attack, Critical rate +30%
- Comments: Potato version of Petal Scream. Torture this staff enough and it'll probably also scream.
Sauro Fang L4 [Normal Claw]
- ATK: 287
- Stats: ATK +16% Critical damage +16% MaxMP +25% VIT +10 AGI +10 Melee pierce +13% Range +2 Autoskill +5% ASPD +10%
- Comments: Hands-down the best normal claw you can get for damage. L5 should be out now and is preferred over this one.
Amber Sail IV [Normal Claw]
- ATK:
- Stats: Magic attack chance by attack, Critical damage +12%, Evasion +40%, ASPD becomes lowest.
- Comments: For those bosses that have too much accuracy, that evasion +40% is no joke. Useful, but unfortunately not very good in terms of damage. Use when stunned to avoid dying. In the future, Amber Sail V will have evasion +50% and is preferred over this one.
Empedracle III [Normal Claw]
- ATK: 250+
- Stats: ATK +14%, Critical rate +40, ATK up by defense if HP is low. Magic R -10%
- Comments: Use only for the evasion buff. The buff also comes with attack interval cut which may get in the way of spamming. Use wisely.
Knuckle Shield III [Normal Claw]
- ATK:
- Stats: MaxMP +33% Auto MP Recovery +20% VIT +11 Rate cut +18% Melee R +13% Magic R +13% HP recovery by consuming MP
- Comments: For situations when resistance is needed. Pretty much the only claw qualified to be in a resist set.
Elemental Swords, Bows and Claws [Normal Sword, Bow, Claw]
- Comments: Pretty sure special claws will out-damage these, but depending on the build and situation, using a different weapon may be more beneficial. Feel free to use whatever elemental weapon you can get your hands on.
General Wand III [Normal Rod]
- ATK: 285
- Stats: Fire & Water & Wind & Earth magic +14% ATK -25% Cast time -24% Skill delay -0.5 sec
- Comments: Weapon used in a -cast time set, while providing some -sd.

Armors
{SPOILER: Armors}
Bellow of Order (Strengthened 1)
- Stats: Melee&Magic R +13%, Skill delay -1.2sec, ATK up by STR, MATK up by INT, Damage cut chance by defense
- Comments: So far the best armor for damage. Skill delay is very nice and the resistance is useful depending on the situation. In my tests in the test server, it outdamaged Ultimi re up. However, I was not able to compare it to Ira.
Ultimi (Strengthened 2)
- Stats: ATK +12% MATK +16% Critical up, Delay -1 sec, Accuracy +100, Absolute evasion +10%, Melee +600
- Comments: While it's way more expensive and does less damage compared to BOO, its -item delay and absolute evasion could prove useful in certain situations. A 3rd up should come out in the future, but 2% more ATK isn't anything worth mentioning.
Exelis (Strengthened 3)
- Stats: ATK +8% MATK +8% Evasion +15% Magic R +13% Skill delay -1.8 sec
- Comments: Clearly lacking in damage. Its use is in an evasion set, and possibly against bosses with skill delay debuffs.
Hulam Ries (Strengthened 2)
- Stats: ATK +11% Melee pierce +20% STR +5 CRT +10 MaxHP +2000 Item delay -1.4 sec Rate cut +5% (hidden correction: Melee +Lv × 2)
- Comments: This armor is used in a melee pierce set, and possibly in an HP set. The -item delay is also useful. Use against high DEF enemies, but not against bosses with barriers. I tested a melee pierce set on Irai 1, and it didn't give me any increase in damage.
Ira (Strengthened 2)
- Stats: ATK +16% Magic evasion +10% Critical rate +25% Autoskill +10% Critical damage +7% Melee +1% Melee R -25% (hidden correction: MaxMP +?)
- Comments: A situational armor for damage. Useful when you need more critical rate, and/or MP without sacrificing damage.
Schwartz
- Stats: MaxHP -30%, Critical up
- Comments: Cheap and good armor for cloning and damage. You're probably gonna use this until the end of time, so grab one as soon as you can. Upgrading is unnecessary.
Altoshear (Strengthened 3)
- Stats: MATK +10%, Cast time -35%, Melee R +8%, Autoskill +8% Range cut +4%
- Comments: Armor I personally use in a -cast time set. Get -100% cast time and you can paralyze opponents that attack way too fast with Raiton powered by Yang.

- Stats: MaxHP -30%, Critical up
- Comments: Cheap and good armor for cloning and damage. You're probably gonna use this until the end of time, so grab one as soon as you can. Upgrading is unnecessary.

{SPOILERS: Additional Gears}
Monty Beret (Strengthened 1)
- Stats: Melee R +8%, Magic R +8%, Skill delay -1.2 sec, Absolute accuracy +9%, ATK up by DEX, Item recovery +25%, ATK +9%

- Stats: ATK +5% Critical damage +13% Hate rise +10% Melee R +10%, Magic R +10% CRT +10 If CRT > 300, Melee Pierce +10%
- Comments: Add gear for damage and resistance. In my tests in the test server, this add gear gave me more damage than Monty. Theoretically tho, Monty should deal more damage.
Gloire (Strengthened 1)
- Stats: ASPD +20%, Melee pierce +8%, Critical up, Critical rate up chance, Small Magic R up by AGI, Evasion +30%
- Comments: An add gear that fulfills many purposes. Has a bit of damage, resistance for AGI builds (+16% at 400 AGI; highest magic resistance from an add gear), and a ton of evasion, although Ghost Ring up should still give more for AGI builds.
Ogre Shield
- Stats: ATK +24%, Melee R -60%, Magic R -50%, Rate Cut -50%, Absolute Evasion -90%, Magic Evasion -90%.
- Comments: Add gear for damage. That's about it lol. Use in a one shot set. Theoretically #2 in terms of damage, losing only to Monty.

- Stats: ATK +14%, STR +10, Skill delay -1.2 sec, Accuracy rate -15%, KO time -1 sec
- Comments: My main add gear as of now. Good damage with a nice amount of -sd. -Stun time is also useful and has saved me a few times when fighting Sauro and other bosses.
Libersona (Strengthened 1)
- Stats: 4 Elements, Cast time -20%, INT +15 Magic R +6%
- Comments: Low cost, good damage, albeit only when fighting fire, water, wind and earth element enemies. It isn't necessary to upgrade, but the added MP and magic r sure are nice. Pairs nicely with Spector for more 4 element damage, or finstern for an all-element damage pair.

Special Equipment
{SPOILER: Special Equipment}
Craft Guide Book
- Stats: ATK increases with the difference between STR and DEX, and MATK with INT and CRT.
- Comments: Best spec for damage for STR builds without DEX. It outdamaged Wild Ring, Disaster Stone, Killer Seed and RoR in the higher levels.
Wild Ring
- Stats: Melee to all elements +10% Element Resistance -10% MaxHP&MP -10%
- Comments: Great spec for damage if you don't wanna collect melee+15% to element xtals. Negatives are nothing too bad. Eases cloning a bit.
Disaster Stone
- Stats: MaxHP -20%, Recoil +1%, ATK up based on VIT.
- Comments: Best spec for damage for low/non-VIT builds that don't use bows and cannot use CGB. Eases cloning. Careful not to auto attack while this spec is equipped. The recoil might kill you especially if your HP is low.
Ring of Rush
- Stats: DEX & Accuracy & Critical rate greatly decreases. Great ATK up by Lv
- Comments: 2nd best spec for damage for no DEX builds. Negatives could possibly hurt your DPS due to reduced critical rate.
Killer Seed
- Stats: Melee R -3% Magic R -5% ATK up by CRT
- Comments: Best spec for damage from Lv1 to Lv256. At Lv257, the other specs start to do more damage.
Specia's Blessed Stone
- Stats: 2 Slot, obtained from start of Episode 6
- Comments: For people like me who would never get another 2s spec in their life. Put two of your desired xtals and you're good to go. It should outdamage any ns spec and most 1s specs.

- Stats: ATK up by STR for Bows

Mystic Arrow
- Stats: Universal attributes are added when bowed.
- Comments: For bow users. Adds +20% damage to all elements including neutral. Apparently deals more damage than Thimble and Adamantite Arrows, but in my calculations, Adamantite Arrows give just a bit more damage (285k vs 284k) when you already use a melee+15% to element xtal.

Life as a DoC spam ninja isn't all cloning and hitting the DoC button over and over (although it will be like that most of the time lol). I'll list a few things you could consider trying out depending on your opponent.
{SPOILER: Playstyles}
DoC Spam
As the title says, you basically just spam DoC while cloning when necessary. Desperate Move is of course preferred because it only takes one second to do (if the skill has 1 sec sd) and provides you with an MP recovery buff. If in case lowering your HP is dangerous, you could try:
1) using Bunshin no Jutsu instead, but this is very MP hungry;
2) using Earthshaker then Domination to replenish your clones and trigger the MP recovery buff. This, however, takes at least 4 seconds (with enough CSPD and -sd) and will kill some of your DPS.
PF DoC Spam
You'll get the highest DPS by doing this instead of simply spamming DoC. There are 2 ways to do this:
1) Yin - Yin - DoC - Repeat - this is the fastest method of spamming PF DoC. Each cycle takes 3 seconds, provided you have enough -sd. The danger of using this method is that when you use Yin the 1st time, it will remove all your clones and all of Yin's effects. Low HP/evasion builds will have a hard time soloing with this method. Yang - Yin - DoC - Repeat also works.
2) PF - DoC - Repeat - This method takes 4 seconds, but should be safer than the first. However, this does not take into account the loss of clones, so if you do not have a tank, you'll have to add 1 more second for cloning, bringing it up to 5 sec. Might as well just spam DoC.
Kiting
Kiting in-game refers to keeping an enemy's attention while keeping a distance where it cannot hit you. This way, you can attack your target without getting hit yourself. This strategy works especially well when fighting slow enemies such as Malti and Nommar. Since you don't have to take hits, having low evasion, resistance or HP is not a problem, but keep in mind that when fighting bosses you can kite, they might still have field stuns or debuffs that could stop you from moving, and field effects that could damage you thru clones. Makibishi will be your best friend here since it slows down the target's movement speed. However, keep in mind that the movement speed decrease does not work on bosses. This is basically a hit-and-run strategy, and there are three ways to do it:
1) DoC- Run - Repeat - exactly what it says. Use DoC, run to a safe distance, repeat the process. Lowest DPS output among the three kiting methods, but the only one you could use before Lv320. Use Desperate Move or Bunshin no Jutsu when needed.
2) PF - Run- DoC - Repeat - more or less the same as method #1, but with PF. While PF is on cooldown, run to a safe distance, then use DoC. Depending on the enemy's movement speed, this could give you the highest DPS among the three methods listed. If necessary, run some more after using DoC before rebuffing PF. Use Desperate Move or Bunshin no Jutsu when needed.
3) Yin - DoC - Run - Yin/Yang - Repeat - most dangerous kiting method with PF. Remember that when you kite, you have to keep moving. The more stops you do, the more dangerous it becomes for you. This should only be used when fighting extremely slow targets (like Ferzen lol try to experiment which bosses are super slow; I heard Amatis is one such boss). Highest DPS among the 3 kiting methods when fighting turtle-speed bosses, but falls to 2nd place against anything only moderately slow. Run some more after Yin/Yang if necessary. Use Desperate Move or Bunshin no Jutsu when needed.
Paralysis
Yes! Ninjas have Raiton to paralyze enemies for 15 seconds. What paralysis does is it decreases your target's ASPD, increasing your chances of survival and decreasing the chances of losing DPS due to losing clones. Remember, those -cast time gears in the Gears and Stuff section? This is what those are for. Before fighting an enemy you can't kill in a few hits or an enemy with high ASPD, switch to Yang mode (important!) then spam Raiton until the enemy is paralyzed. After that, go back to Yin mode (optional, but recommended due to +1k HP and +10% evasion), replenish your clones and dance XD.
Buffing
While our options are limited, there are some very useful buffs out there that we can use, especially for cancelling out debuffs. I'll list here some that you could possibly use.

{SPOILER: Leveling}
From Lv1 to 140, you should do MQ. I found this to be easiest as a Knight, even if I only have STR and CRT. Vampire Blow is very useful during these times. Once you hit 140, switch to Ninja, get DoC, and watch the world burn XD. From there, I suggest continuing MQ until you unlock Apostolia because you really need the stat points (and GR for evasion).
SOLO
What you grind depends on your damage:
35k - You can grind Neknott/Ugly Mantis or participate in raids.
60k - you can two shot High Ents with this damage.
100k - actually, you only need 75k damage, but Fox Priest has high DEF (or probably due to level difference). Grind those mobs until you can one shot High Ents with 120k DoC.
160k - you can now two shot Nommars. Careful tho, Nommars can stun, but they walk very slowly so just kite.
210k - you can two shot Megaroche.
250k - it should be possible to 3-4 shot Yarde/Baum Warrior with this damage. Don't forget Poison Vaccines when fighting BW, just in case. If you plan on grinding Third Eyes instead, always have Makibishi active so you can kite efficiently, although at this point you probably already have PF.
PARTY
More or less the same as in solo mode, but in a party XD. If you can find someone who can tank for you for a few seconds, grinding high HP mobs like Yarde and Third Eyes should be good. You can also form a party with members that can solo kill EXP mobs efficiently, then you can kill those mobs with lower HP. If you're confident about your evasion, you could also tank for them (provided your hate rise is good enough to tank).
