In general matk is nice to have as an alchemist because several skills are based on or get a bonus from matk, but since most of your dmg is dealt through DOT, I would have to prioritize staying alive over having 200k+ blizzard.
I would start with red lines and pick Al crystals the have high magic and/or physical resist.
I use an autoskill negate set with Al crystals to boost autoskill rate, so I don't know which Al crystals are best for resist sets.

Vatendeth, Irai, Leviam, Vulschem, Magonza (when it's released).

i know @krish does all blue Nah, 3B 2G.blazer Check my guide.I would recommend going all for red as all MATK really does matter for is burn just a tiny bit and cursed rain, and survivability in this set is way more emphasized than damage.

damage negate auto set vs resist set, which set do you think will be better or which set for which type of bosses. In my experience, they are both good but have different weaknesses. The autoskill set can negate all attack dmg to 0 or even heal you if more then one proke at one time, but if the enemy hits for more then your current hp you always die. The resist set can reduce all direct hit dmg to 1 but you still take rate dmg(dmg base on max hp) so you still have to keep healing yourself or have a healer in certain boss battles. Both sets are weak against room effects and status effects. I like the auto set more, but I think the resist set is slightly better in most situations.

Melee resist also reduces rate cut attacks, so resist set works for that too, you can also add rate cut abilities on top of your resist set. The best resist set you can make now can give you:95+DEF 95%+ melee&magic resist&rate cut The only thing that's hard to avoid is room effects and ailment damage.

That's even better then what I thought. I didn't think you could get rate cut to 95% while keeping resist at 95%.

Al : -Irai, Leviam, Vatendeth = 20% Me&Ma Res -Malti & Vulschem = 20% Rc Eq : -Genius with Morbeelzem = 20% Me&Ma Res, 15% Rc -Boo with Iniliba = 22% Me&Ma Res -Sieger with Iniliba = 20% Me&a Res -Catura with Iniliba = 15% Me&Ma Res, 5% Rc -Full Rc Abi = 60% Rc Total = 20+15+5+60 : 100% Rc, 20+20+22+20+15 : 97% Me&Ma Res so u have 100% Rc and 97% Me&Ma Res cmiiw
