When they first release Monk, what did they say on the descripton of Monks skill? I've searched the Wikidot and it says it has "potentially the most powerful attack skill". But HW, Bishop and other classes somewhat out DPS this class.
I know there are Geo Spammers and they mostly deal very high damage but what about claw monks? How they were supposed to battle? Normal attack? or Autoskill? Did asobimo think Monk to rely on EVA or MaxHP and DEF?
High Wizards and Bishops play in range but they got good survivability too. And Claw Monks dont play in range but in front, so if they cant tank goodly in their early times (Pre Asura Aura) how will they battle? They aren't pretty much tanks, they can deal more damage than Ninja but their survivability would lack.
Now i'm not talking about the equips or something, just the skills. How much does the skills help a Claw Monk? You get -1 SD when a rod or throwing equipped, Chakra adds more attack with Rod or Throwing, you get more heal from rod or throwing. Every gain is from Rod or Throwing.
And with the Claw only skill Rush, Item Recovery CRT, MaxMP reduces, Skill delay +1.5 seconds. Brionac also has disadvantages. Just Geo Monks are getting all benifits and Claw Monks?
My question is, how Asobimo wanted us to battle?. If they wanted to be Geo Spammers why Rush and Shellbreak? :/

Just Geo Monks are getting all benifits and Claw Monks? My question is, how Asobimo wanted us to battle?. If they wanted to be Geo Spammers why Rush and Shellbreak? :/ The answer is... using both Monks should use both geo and rush... Let's show the points: 1) Monks have Chakra, wich almost shout at us that Monks should have INT on their builds, and with INT on their builds, we got the possibility to use magic autoskills also (yet Dajarte should be the best for them q.q). Also, by having Int on your build, you raise your MDEF and reduces SD of the Geobreaker greatly. 2) Monks have passives that make a huge difference on their HP, making VIT a almost useless stat. 3) Monks have Lentus (The old, but yet good Lentus), wich raises atk, aspd and eva if I'm right (idk xD), wich makes monks immortals while stunned. 4) New skills use a "Combination" gauge, wich raised by evading/ attacking/ getting hit. Agi is a must. 5) Geo breaker makes crit a must, as its most damage comes from critical damage. By all these, we can see that monks can actually use both with the right build. So Agi/Crit/Int and some Vit would be the winners on the "What asobimo wanted to tell us by Monk's skills", providing us high atk (Chakra), high attack speed (Agi with Rush) and high damage (Int and crit), also making easy to change between Geo spam and Auto attacking. Ps: When Monk came out, it was stated as one of the weakest classes, as almost no one knew what to do (People just pumped agi on most classes, lol)

Dont lose hope on monk yet *-*)/
1. Monk has a decent dps along with verstile build right. Switching from rush&asura auto atk geo spam.
2. One of class which can has cap def & cap magic resist without losing too much dps
3. The more stat u have the stronger u get as monk benefits from all stats
4. The new skill release had the put monk as the highest damage atm(10m dmg)with more potential on dps
I personally find monk are pretty op on they own way&i love the class very much *-*)/

Were they suppose to tank? Claw Monks dont attack in Range so there is a Matter of tanking... No. Not every class is designed to tank and monk is one of them. It wont generate enough hate when compared to others at it;s level. It;s eva and HP should be what keeps it alive along with whatever other durability boosts it has. Just imo from watching and having a monk at one point, monk's purpose is without a doubt to aid killing high defense monsters. If you're in a party then use geobreaker. If solo use claws or if the situation calls for it, use a claw and rush in to blitz the enemies barrier and proc as many shell breaks as you can.

About the only way I can think of to get close to enough hate to somewhat tank would be to use daiginjo up, and have halios and gauchel al crystas, I'm sure there are other hate rise options but that's all I can think of at the moment, even then it would still be a bit of a problem to keep aggro

Rush would cut my attack interval into half, and i'll be attacking more faster than normal auto attackers like Ninja. Wouldnt that generate more hate than Ninja?

Ninja (especially claw ninja) is by far one of the lowest hate generators XD...if not the lowest. By the way about your opening post I can't confirm but I think when they said attack it was meant as auto attack. Based on the skills around its release monk probably had the highest auto attack dps now of course samu give them a run for their money....but things change over time depending on future content they could even somehow be twisted into the highest magic aoe class who knows~ about the 10m skill tho yes its op and makes monk capable of the highest DMG hit (not counting hacks -.-....) But dps wise it isn't exactly practical unless assobimo releases tsuchinoko king(spelling?) Who has enough HP for it to actually matter..

Monks in my opinion were made for pure dps class weather it be geo spam or claw and I think claw monks were meant to be auto skill they really play better that way for damage as you can see from there skill kit they really are not meant for holding Hate in parties as they have no hate gen skills so they were not meant to tank as far as loosing hate with a claw build SPECIALLY a autoskill one you will always have aggro issues because the way your damage is constantly hitting the mob with no break like a HW or alchy needs to cast were we are just constantly on the mobs hate list it's a thought battle to win one I still have problems with lol specially now that my monk is 310 with the gear set it's crazy I always have Agro it sucks
