Just wondering if anyone knows how we can increase potential from the crafted equipments.

If not mistaken it's depends on the stats point. Like you spend your points to str - then the potential will get higher when you create 2handsword.
pure str - sword
pure dex - bow
pure int - staffs, magic device
pure vit - armor
