I am gladiator and i can't wait to have these technique but after reading lots of forum topics i can't make up my mind. I know they work well together but have a few questions.
My stats are
lv 183
str 212
vit 91
Critical 256
i plan on maxing str and then dex
Which one is better for the berserker build?
Also what is the formula to calculate damage for both?

Pillar blade is 2.5x your normal critical hit
Sword tempest is around 3-3.5x (not sure) on a boss/rare mob. It is weaker on a field/dungeon mob maybe around 60% percent of your normal hit.

if you going to use berserk as main skill, raising DEX wont give much benefit to berserk skill, you only get 1 ATK power for every 1 DEX.
raising DEX your reduce your lv200 pillar blade's skill delay.
if you love berserk i think you will love lv220 sword tempest skill, because its like variation of berserk skill with very low mp cost (only 10 mp),boost your AVD stat to almost 200% and have some melee damage (ignoring enemy's DEF).

Thank you guys i pladed a bit and now i am lv 200 and got stat release by myself and i just got pillar blade a few minutes ago and it seems it only hits one enemy even when there are more around is that correct?

It can hit up to maximum of 3 mobs (if I'm right with the max number) its just the radius is too low. My technique is to lure 3 mobs then use pillar blade.

Its not necessary, but its an effective way so they come closer to you and hit multiple mobs, since pillar blade hit area is not that wide

my personal opinion, sword tempest slash spam build is not great for normal mob fight, even for in party fighting multiple monsters . i dont think its damage per second can beat the one from pillar blade/berserk/fast attack on tempest buff. but unlike pillar blade, sword tempest slash is ranged attack, all monsters will get hit no matter how far monster from you,as long as the monsters is aggro on you/your party members(appear as red dot on mini-map). from what i learn from a japanese blogger ( click here), sword tempest slash spam need 5 seconds total to be reduced to get shortest delay. even if your DEX is 256, sword tempest still have delay about 3.5 seconds delay. you still need to use skill delay -sec gears/xtals/star abilty to fully reduced all delay. sword tempest slash spam build is good if you love to fight boss a lot,the damage is boosted on boss target. |

Yes, pillar blade formula is the same as when you use it to a mob and to a boss. Tempest, as we know, deals higher than pillar on a boss, and weaker on a mob (except those floor 9 divine tower mobs). Spamming tempest can give you more hate than pillar as the damage is higher when you are tanking(not in some cases, as gladiator is not really a hate expert) Tempest also increases your melee pierce and eva at 91%, while pillar blade only hits your target with the skill nothing more, nothing less. Tempest is also an absolute critical skill. Meaning that whenever you use it, it will crt(even when blind), unlike pillar that relies on your crt rate to deal a critical hit and deal white damage when blind. Only con i see in spamming tempest is the hp cost it takes and the amount of delay needed to spam, unless you have enough dex to lessen the delay requirement |
